Policy & Research
The Environmental Law Foundation seeks to improve legal and planning policy to protect and improve the environment. We are particularly concerned to ensure that the barriers to securing access to justice in environmental matters, which individuals and communities face, are identified and overcome.
Recently, ELF has been engaged in the following:
- Research undertaken on behalf of the Green Leaders Group, to appraise the impact of the compensation culture on the provision of informal outdoor recreation and access to open spaces.
- Research contributing to Defra's search for evidence-led data to assist its Review of Enforcement in Environmental Regulation: this was achieved through an analysis of ELF case data to identify areas where regulation may be insufficient to protect communities suffering from environmental harm.
- Contributing responses to a variety of government policy proposals including the consultation on the policy framework for nuclear new build.
