At the Environmental Law Foundation, we operate 3 educational programmes:
ELF offers an internship scheme for graduates and postgraduates who are interested in environmental issues and wish to gain practical experience of working in the sector by volunteering. Volunteers join the ELF internship programme as caseworkers in the Advice & Referral Service where they handle enquiries from the public and refer cases to ELF's network of legal and technical advisers.
Applicants are asked to submit a CV and covering letter and may be invited for interview depending on our requirements at the time. All volunteers are expected to commit to 3 days per week for 3 months. When this placement comes to an end, caseworkers may wish to volunteer with the Community Outreach programme for a further 3 month placement.
For more information, please check the Support Us section.
Students in Years 10 and 11 who need to complete 2 weeks work experience are welcome to apply to the Environmental Law Foundation. All work experience students are asked to attend an informal interview where they get a chance to meet the staff team and discuss their interests.

A fundamental barrier to access to justice in developing countiries is the lack of legal resources and material. The aim of the LIFE Project is to support the development and awareness of environmental law and regulation across Africa by distributing law books donated by firms, chambers and libraries in the UK to universities and libraries in Africa.
To date, we have sent books to Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Liberia. We have recently despatched a shipment of 50 boxes of law books to the Law Faculty of Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia and look forward to confirmation of their safe arrival.
The LIFE Project is not able to accept any further donations of books at the moment.
